Windows Setup Guide

Configure your Windows PC to use Dnsway.1 for DNS filtering and content control.

What You'll Need

Open Network Settings

Right-click the network icon in your system tray (bottom-right corner, near the clock) and select Network & Internet Settings. Alternatively, press Windows + I and go to Network & Internet.

Select Your Connection Type

Click on Wi-Fi or Ethernet depending on how your PC connects to the internet. Then click Hardware properties (Windows 11) or Change adapter options (Windows 10).

Edit DNS Server Assignment

Under DNS server assignment, click the Edit button. Change the dropdown from Automatic (DHCP) to Manual. Toggle IPv4 to On.

Enter DNS Server Address

Enter the Dnsway.1 DNS server address in the Preferred DNS field. You can optionally add 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 as the Alternate DNS for backup. Click Save.

Verify the Configuration

Open a command prompt (Windows + R → type cmd → Enter) and run:

ipconfig /all | findstr "DNS"

You should see your Dnsway.1 DNS server listed. Your Windows PC is now protected.

Done! Your Windows PC is now filtering through Dnsway.1. All applications and browsers on this device will use the filtered DNS.
⚠️ Note: You need to configure DNS separately for each network adapter. If you use both Wi-Fi and Ethernet, configure both. After switching networks (e.g., from home to office), you may need to re-apply these settings.
